The CAD team is dedicated to promoting the health and wellness of all people both young and old through various social and physical activities. We are committed to creating a supportive and empowering environment for both men and women to thrive in all aspects of their lives.


Meet Our Team

Simon Cooper (Bsc)
Secretary​
Simon Cooper, one of the Staff Leaders of CAD, has a background in professional football coaching and over 14 years of experience working with young people. He has been in recovery from addiction since 2007, maintaining sobriety for 16 years as well. As one of the three founding members of CAD, Simon plays a crucial role in building and sustaining the growth of CAD. Simon has a BA Honours degree in Business Management.

Jon Horrocks
Director of Mens Fitness Coaching
Jon Horrocks is a fitness/boxing coach at Failsworth CAD and a fully qualified Personal Trainer. He is currently undertaking his boxing qualifications as well. Jon became a founder of the CAD Team with Simon Cooper and Anthony Phythian when their close friend Chris Drysdale committed suicide. Jon states " For me it was another person lost on a long list and enough was enough. I have also struggled with alcohol and addiction for many years and wanted to help people on their journey to hopefully a cleaner more mentally stable future"

Vicky Anderson
Peer Mentor / Coach / CAD Ladies
Vicky is a facilitator at the Failsworth Ladies CAD Team. She is a qualified Councillor in CBT therapy and psychotherapy. She states "The group helps with my own mental health and dealing with a close family members addiction, this group has made me a better person in my own mindset. Just watching the group of ladies grow each week is so empowering to see. These are ladies who were at rock bottom and are now thriving. CAD is amazing and supports you on your lowest days"

Sam Burgess
Peer Mentor/ Coach CAD Ladies
Sam recently became part of the Ladies Staff Team at CAD. She is very energetic, enthusiastic and excitable with the fitness side of things. This is probably due to her 20+ years in the fitness industry and her passion for empowering people to have the 'feel good factor' and release negativity, anxieties and stress through physical exercise, boxing and dance.
She says " I just love how we can be completely honest, raw and our emotional self in the circle whilst supporting and encouraging each other overcome our battles"

Neil Greenwood

Neil Greenwood has been with the CAD group from day one and was delighted to become a member of the staff team. He now is a facilitator at the Eccles branch. He has suffered from mental health and addiction issues and has used the CAD support network to give him positivity moving forward and hopefully a platform to help others to overcome their problems and mindset troubles.

Anthony Phythian
Peer Mentor Coach / Founder
Eccles
Anthony Phythian, is one of the founders of CAD and a valued member of the Eccles and Manchester CAD Teams. "My background is that of addiction to drink and drugs.
I also fought as both amateur and professional boxer overcoming mental health and serious weight loss along the way. I enjoy helping others fulfil their potential and realising their true potential even in their darkest hours"

Caroline Hansell
Head of CAD Ladies
Caroline Hansell works alongside Angie, Vicky & Sam as a facilitator, coach & yoga teacher at CAD Ladies. She has worked with families & young people from all backgrounds for over 35 years. She believes strongly in empowering women to find their own power & voice and to take control of being & keeping well. She states "I have met some amazing people at CAD and wouldn’t want to spend my Monday evening anywhere else"

Angie Wilkinson
Director of Ladies Fitness Coaching​
Angie Wilkinson is a seasoned personal trainer with 20 years of sobriety, She specialises in guiding women through the physical and emotional changes of menopause.
She is a valued facilitator and fitness coach at CAD Ladies in Manchester, and studied a degree in Strength and Conditioning and I has used fitness as a powerful tool to enhance both physical and mental well-being in herself and others.

Michael Gray
Peer Mentor/ Coach
Manchester
Michael Gray is a young inspiring volunteer as a facilitator/coach here at CAD. Mike is 3 years sober from alcohol and cocaine and has over 10 years of experience within recovery.
He is passionate about helping others adapt and overcome negative circumstances, primarily Alcoholism and Addiction.
" CAD has and continues to improve my life, and it also gives me the opportunity to help others"
His hobbies include kickboxing and spending time with my family.

Paul strong
Peer Mentor
Paul Strong is a founding member.
"CAD to me is somewhere where I can let of steam after a busy week at work. CAD has changed my outlook on life and made me a better person. My day to day job is running my own construction company which at time can give me anxiety. Since joining CAD . And becoming a part of the brotherhood it’s changed my life for the better . I personally knew Chris drysdale and I also lost someone close to me through suicide . So it’s something I hold close to my heart . Helping others is something I take great pride in"

Chris Dowling

Chris Dowling is a valued part of the staff at Failsworth CAD. He offers help, support and advice after his many years of substance abuse which lead to mental health and suicidal thoughts.
As of today he is 3yrs sober. CAD he states " CAD has totally changed me, I am now a fully active member at CAD and it has changed my life! , I also now enjoy running and cold water therapy..Your never to old to change."

Fran Egan
Head of Social / Coach

Fran Egan is our Head of Social / Counselling and is a valued Staff Member at CAD.
He has qualifications in Psychology, Social Wellbeing and many other aspects of mentoring and coaching.

Lee Middleton
Peer Mentor/ Coach
Eccles
Lee Middleton is a hugely valued and talented staff member at Eccles CAD. He is a qualified PT and facilitates the fitness sessions at Eccles.
"I was introduced to CAD by one of the founders Anthony Pythian who I had trained with at Eccles Boxing School. I had previously lived a life of drink and drugs which nearly cost me my marriage but thankfully I seeked help through counselling therapy and then fitness, which literally changed my life for the better, allowing me to become a better husband and father to my 4 children. I love giving back, and CAD has allowed me to give something back to others who may be struggling with many of life’s challenges."
